Roll Out Ol’ Cab, (2024)

(INSTALLATION AND PERFORMANCE)

Duration: 30 minutes

Location: Otis College of Art & Design, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Artists Da Ron Vinson and von curtis presented a provocative reimagining of the Tar Baby and Br'er Rabbit tale. Set against a modified American flag, the performance blended silent theater, live audio mixing, and dance. It culminated in Vinson crawling across campus to a fashion show runway, while a banner about freedom was displayed. This multifaceted piece integrated African American folklore with contemporary social justice themes, challenging audience perceptions through costume, movement, and sound. The performance created a powerful commentary on race, freedom, and institutional boundaries.
